What Is An RV Resort?

What is an RV resort? – Well, RV resorts are a resort-type park where you can go with your family or friends to stay in an RV for a little while. These are places where you can enjoy all the benefits of RVing, but with amenities, most campgrounds don’t offer.

RV resorts are similar to RV parks and campgrounds, however, they have a lot more amenities and offer a more luxurious RV break than other options. You’ll find that many RV resorts can offer everything from fishing to fitness facilities and even horseback riding.

What’s The Difference Between An RV Resort And An RV Park?

The difference between an RV resort and RV park can be subtle, let’s get into what each one is.

RV Parks

RV parks are a step up from an RV campsite and a step down from an RV resort. They will usually have the amenities that you would expect for an RV park like water and electric hookups. Other than that they can vary from park to park as to the parking spot and other park amenities.

Generally RV parks have a lot of trees and woodland feel, and will give you more space and privacy than a general campsite. However there will be less amenities than an RV resort, but some RV parks do have things like a clubhouse and pools. They are also typically cheaper than a resort.

RV Resorts

RV resorts are the most luxurious and offer all the same things as RV parks such as the full hookups and paved parking sites. But you will also get a lot more amenities this will make your stay feel more like a resort or hotel rather than an RV park.

RV resorts are for families that are after a place to stay with lots of activities, clubs and social events to keep you busy. Unfortunately, this can mean that they are expensive to stay at.

At both RV parks and RV resorts make sure that you check their requirements for RV sizes and the amenities available, you don’t want to turn up to find that you can’t fit your rig in the park. Because a lot of RV sites have limitations on the sizes of RV they can accept I have written an article that details what the best size RV to own are.

What To Expect From An RV Resort

There are many different types of RV resorts; some offer all-inclusive packages while others offer options with an extremely high degree of personalization. But no matter what type of resort you choose, there are a few things you can expect from your stay. The first thing you should expect is to have a memorable experience at your new favorite vacation spot.

RV resorts will have a spacious well organized RV parking spots, with a well-paved road for easy access. Resorts can generally accommodate larger RVs than campsites or RV parks. From the name RV resort, it might be easy to assume that you’ll just have your own RV. If that’s the case, then you’re mistaken. While there are some resorts that offer just an RV, most of them offer other accommodation options, including cabins and campgrounds. These resorts are perfect for families because they provide lots of activities for children.

You can also expect a lot of activities to be included like swimming pools, clubhouse, evening entertainment, fishing, hiking, and even horse riding. Make sure to check the amenities before booking so you can know exactly what to expect.

Unfortunately, RV resorts are the most expensive places to stay in your RV, but they can be worth every penny if you find a good one!

Some resorts sell their spaces which can go for thousands, you could consider an RV park model for one of these spaces if you want a vacation home. These spaces do not come cheap though so be prepared to pay a hefty sum for a permanent place.

You can also pay a nightly or weekly rate to stay at an RV resort, these vary depending on the location and amenities available. Be prepared to pay up to $500 a night for the higher-end resorts, you can expect to pay anywhere in the region of $100 to $500 per night.

However, once you arrive at your resort there should be enough entertainment and amenities to keep you busy for a week or two without ever leaving. Which in turn could end up saving you money if you have a big family.
